When pilotage is compulsory
Ordinance No. 9 of the Director of the Maritime Office in Gdynia of 16 July 2018, Port Regulations (Official Journal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship item 2832, Official Journal of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship item 3242), provides that in the Port of Gdynia the use of pilot services is compulsory for vessels of 90 metres in length and over, and — regardless of length — for vessels carrying dangerous cargoes listed in § 16 of the ordinance, non-gas-freed vessels, overloaded vessels, excessively trimmed vessels, vessels with a dangerous list, and vessels which, due to damage sustained, may cause environmental pollution.
Boarding the pilot on the roads
Vessels carrying dangerous cargoes or vessels with a draught greater than 9 m are boarded by the pilot at the “GD” buoy or at the appropriate anchorage. Vessels with a draught of less than 9 m are boarded by the pilot no later than on the fairway before the “G1 – G2” gate. Boarding the pilot at other locations requires the consent of the Harbour Master.
Disembarking the pilot on the roads
The pilot may disembark after passing the “G1 – G2” gate.
Earlier disembarkation of the pilot due to weather conditions may take place with the consent of the Harbour Master and the master of the piloted vessel.
